PO Notifications

Are notifications on PO’s a thing? I’m curious how/best practice for a user to know a PO they requested is running out of funds so that they know to request another PO - without manually inquiring with accounting.
If we have a PO for the next year for a set amount that is billed against regularly, I am hoping the PO owner might get notified once the PO is 90% used up (or similar) for example.
