Ability to Impersonate any User as an Admin

As Admins of Ramp, there are times that we are needing to impersonate a user to be able to see exactly as their screen does.

This is helpful for multiple reasons:

  1. Ensure we are assisting the user and catering directly to them
  2. Validates if an issue is occurring, we can see for ourselves.
  3. Allows us to create user manuals/training guides with screenshots directly from their point of perspective.

Other terminology that is sometimes used for this case scenario; mimic, imitate, emulate, copy, resemble.

Allowing this functionality without having to assign yourself to the user as a delegate would make it more efficient. It would need to have an indicator on the screen for the admin ensuring that they know they are looking at person X’s screen.

Edit: I just noticed you already mentioned delegation/assistant mode

My organization also has a demo account primarily for building integrations with Ramp, but it has also been useful for seeing what the UI looks like for different user roles. I’m not sure how much effort it is on the Ramp side to set those up; you could ask your account manager and see what they tell you.

Excellent suggestion, this is a need for sure!

I have a work around that may help in the interim. I have a Gmail email I setup for this specific purpose (RampTest[ClientName]@gmail.com) and I use that as my access test copying over access to view what the end user sees. With that Gmail address I am able to also test the app on my phone. It’s not a perfect solution but it works and with RAMPTest in the email name it minimizes confusion.

Your suggestion would be amazing, thank you!
