Assign managers to departments not people

We are a midsized nonprofit. We have people who work for multiple departments. It would be great if we could assign department managers for approval instead of one person having the same manager for all their cards. To illustrate one administrator may serve two different departments. That person has one card for mobilization and one card for operations. Right now we have to choose who will approve (or manage) all their spending. Will the mobilization director know how the operations director wants their budget run?

Hi Katie! If I understand correctly, you can currently do this in Ramp :blush: → you can set up different approval policies based on who needs to approve (e.g., Operations Approval Policy and Mobilization Approval Policy).

For example, if an administrator serves two departments and has two cards, one for Mobilization and one for Operations, you can set it up so that the Mobilization Director approves the Mobilization card and the Operations Director approves the Operations card (see more here).

This way, each department head has oversight over the spending that pertains to their department. Make sure to issue the employee two different virtual cards so the cards can be tied to their department-specific approval policies.

Hi! I am trying to set this up for an employee who is managed by two managers in different departments. Is this only available for Ramp Plus? When I click on the YouTube link it is showing card request approvals. Is there a video for setting up the different approval policies on who needs to approve? Thank you!
