Card Holder - Notifications Spend Limits

Is there already a notification sent to card holders if they are nearing there spend limit? Is this something they can turn on? I keep getting employees complaining to me that their credit card has been declined and the reason is always that they were over their spend limit.

I tell them that they need to keep an eye on their spend (that’s basically the whole point of moving to the Ramp cards in the first place) and that they can request an increase if they think they need to spend more than their monthly limit.

To be fair this is a change from the previous practice of Finance just giving anyone who asks more money, but I am trying to get people used to doing things through the dashboard rather than coming up to me at my desk or pinging me on teams.

I took a look through all of our documentation and I see that we don’t currently send notifications when employees are approaching their individual limit.

I can definitely see how this could be useful for you and other customers so I’ll put in a request to our product team.

For now, it can be helpful for your employees to download the Ramp mobile app so that they can keep track of their card limits on the go.

Hi Adriene & Bailey, William from the product team responsible for our Card product here! We just began sending notifications in certain cases to cardholders when a fund hits 80% utilization a couple weeks ago!

We are also looking to introduce more visibility into when funds are nearing their limit in-app (for both admins and cardholders) – would love to connect and chat about we could make it easier for you and your team to proactively manage individual limit utilization & reduce unintended declines!
