Let’s walk through how to make the most of Ramp’s Spend Program to streamline your holiday spend:

To access the template, navigate to the Manage Spend tab in your Ramp dashboard and click on Programs. Then select the yellow Create Program button in the top-right corner. Here, you will find our holiday-themed program, designed to help you track gift purchases, event expenses, team activities, client gifting, and all the festive spending that comes with this time of year.

Spend Programs allow you to save all your card settings as a reusable template, including limits, payment methods, category and merchant restrictions, approval workflows, accounting automations, and more. Instead of recreating these settings every time, you can issue funds at scale with consistency and control.

Feel free to customize all aspects of our pre-built template: update the icon, rename the program, or rewrite the description to best fit your team’s holiday plans.

Customize Your Holiday Spend With Precision

Start customizing by setting the total limit for the fund and configuring any category or merchant restrictions to align with company guidelines. For instance, you might block categories like alcohol, electronics, or clothing if they fall outside your holiday gifting policy.

The template includes a pre-filled lock date of January 15, ensuring funds can’t be used after the holiday season wraps. Feel free to adjust this date to match your timeline.

Next, determine how employees can access spend. You can either issue funds directly as an admin or allow employees to request funds. Admins can approve or decline funds requested by employees directly from their approval inbox.

Ramp also lets you automate accounting details. Set a default accounting category, such as Office or Employee Engagement, so that all transactions related to this program are properly coded.

Additionally, you can customize the approval workflow for this program– either following your standard spend request process or creating a unique workflow tailored to holiday spend. Receipt and memo requirements can also be set, along with rules for whether transactions require post-purchase approval.

Publish, Track, and Celebrate

Once your program is customized to fit your needs, simply click Publish. Your Holiday Spend Program will appear instantly in your Ramp dashboard, ready for issuing across the team. You can edit or duplicate the program at any time for future holidays, annual events, or additional spending scenarios.
