I have only been using Ramp for about two weeks with our company. When someone makes an in-person purchase, they are texted immediately with the reminder to send a receipt and memo. However, when someone makes an online purchase, it is taking 1-2 days to get an email reminder for a receipt and memo. Is this common? Is there anything that can be done to have an immediate text reminder sent for online purchases?
Hi Julie,
My name is Stephanie, and I am on the Customer Success team here at Ramp. I would be happy to explain the delay in receipt notification for in-person transactions versus online transactions.
Due to the immediate nature of an in-person transaction, the receipt is often printed out from the merchant at the moment and then placed in a bag or lost within a day or so. We send that text to grab the receipt at that moment so the user does not have to think about it later. However, online transactions work a little differently. Often, the receipt is not sent as soon as the employee charges the card. Some merchants send an order confirmation right away, which is not a receipt, and a receipt a couple of days later when the item is officially charged or shipped. Most finance teams want the official receipt and not the order confirmation, so we send online reminders a couple of days after the transaction takes place to hopefully prompt the cardholder to upload it. If it arrives sooner, the cardholder can manually attach a receipt at any time prior to the notification to Ramp.
Thanks for the explanation, Stephanie!
