It would be very helpful to be able to set up a policy for payment release similar to bill pay itself. We don’t need the one approver looking at every $50 transaction, but if we could set a threshold we could add approvers at the lower threshold, or only require release above a certain threshold. Especially since we have many transactions coming in from an IMS that bypass the approval process as they go IMS>QB>Ramp. It would maybe be better too if bills pulled in from QB didn’t bypass approval workflows, or if there were at least an option to require/allow approvals for any bills imported directly from QB

Thanks for the feedback! We’re working on a policy for payment release, which will allow you to set thresholds and customize the releasors using other properties (eg entity, accounting coding, etc.)
Regarding approval workflows for IMS-imported bills: to clarify, would these be approvals on the bill, or approvals for releasing payment?

It would be super helpful to have these thresholds and custom release functions added, quite surprised it has not been included sooner, as it would make it much easier to control the payment release approvals separate from the bill approvals.

This is exactly the type of functionality I’ve been asking for since before we joined Ramp, so I’m excited to see this may be rolling out.
One thing I’d want to confirm is that the thresholds can be based on the total payment to each vendor, not just individual invoice amounts. For example, if multiple invoices to one vendor total $60K, I’d want that to trigger the $50K+ approval workflow even if each invoice is below $50K.
Ideally, the thresholds, number of required approvers, eligible approvers, any required higher-level approver, and whether multiple approvals must come from distinct users would all be configurable.
@Alex_Bi - Any update on timing, or is there a beta or limited rollout we could be added to?

@Alex_Bi This is great news! We have stalled our migration from BILL AP to ramp because our dual approval on payments over a certain amount control cannot currently be satisfied on ramp. Do you have an estimate as to when this policy will be available, even if only in beta? We remain very interested either way.
