Where do unmatched receipts go?

I pay all of my vendors by credit card and then scan my invoices. I used to be able to match the invoices to the charges manually on the ramp app and now it only allows automatic matching. ˆThe system isn’t matching several of them though. Where do those receipts go so that I can go back in and manually do it? I don’t want to have to sort through 27 emails later to figure out which ones didn’t match properly.
Do those receipts get stored somewhere in the system that I can go in and do it manually somewhere else?

Hi Mary - happy Friday!

When you send receipts to Ramp, they should automatically match to the corresponding transactions. Ramp doesn’t have a specific location where unmatched receipts are stored. If a receipt doesn’t match a transaction, it will be marked with a grey icon on the transaction itself. You can then manually attach the correct receipt to the transaction.

If you have multiple receipts to upload, you can use the bulk upload feature. This allows you to upload multiple receipts at once, and Ramp will match them to your transactions.

Two other things I’d recommend -

  1. Turn on receipt auto-forwarding! Ramp automatically matches the receipts you send to [email protected] to your transactions :point_right: Read more about this here

  2. If after these steps receipts still aren’t matching, I would flag the issue to our support team so they can look into the specifics of your account. Submit a support ticket here

“If a receipt doesn’t match a transaction, it will be marked with a grey icon on the transaction itself”
How can Ramp mark the unmatched receipt on the transaction when it doesn’t know which transaction to match it to? This problem is particularly troublesome for transactions that include a tip. Ramp can’t always determine where the receipt belongs. The ability to manually match them afterwards would be very useful.

Hi Katherine! Thank you for calling that out – you’re right that my previous wording wasn’t as clear as it should’ve been.

The grey icon isn’t Ramp “finding an unmatched receipt and assigning it to a transaction it can’t identify.” It indicates a receipt is associated with that transaction, but it didn’t pass verification (the receipt amount must match exactly, and the date/merchant must match).

If Ramp truly can’t confidently match a receipt to any transaction, it should appear in “Saved receipts”, where you can manually match it afterward. This comes up a lot with tipped transactions because the posted amount can change, or the tip can post separately.

Is this what you mean by the ability to match them afterward, or were you referring to something else? Happy to dig in further or share any feedback you have with the Product team!
